Apple Picking

This past weekend, my family and I decided to take advantage of the crisp fall weather by taking a trip up to the mountains for some apple picking. Going to Carter's Mountain has been somewhat of a tradition for my family since I was in high school, but I haven't been able to join in on the fun since Freshman year of college.
Carter's Mountain is only a short 1.5 hour drive from our house, and after packing a picnic lunch we were on our way. It was much colder than expected up on the mountain, mostly due to the crisp wind. We bundled up and prepared ourselves to find the perfect apples, but first we toured around the mountain and were happy to see all things fall. From pumpkins and scarecrows to apple cider and world famous apple doughnuts, I was in fall heaven!

Is there a pumpkin or baby under my shirt??

The trees were filled with delicious looking apples...too bad majority of them were out of my reach!

Good thing Jeffrey came along and was able to do some serious climbing...

My dad and the "forbidden apple"... see that roped off area? (It was the most delicious apple I ate all day!)

We picked 14 pounds of apples! What do you do with 14 pounds of apples??....

...Make delicious homemade apple crisp. YUM!!

What a fun start to FALL!
